ARENYS SQUID- CALAMAR
A highly prized cephalopod of superior quality, typical of Arenys de Mar. The squid fishing season begins at the end of September. It offers numerous culinary possibilities, from simple fried squid rings (calamars a la romana) to stuffed squid with seafood, meat, mushrooms, or vegetables.
Where to find it?
Arenys squid is sold at the Arenys de Mar fish auction and can also be found at fish markets throughout the region. In October, you can enjoy it in Arenys de Mar’s restaurants during the Calamarenys gastronomic days.
LANGOUSTINE
A highly valued crustacean in Catalan cuisine, recognizable by its pinkish-orange color, pincers, and hard shell. It can grow up to 30 cm in length and is typically found in muddy seabeds at depths of 100 to 300 meters.
Where to find it?
Langoustines are sold at the Arenys de Mar fish auction and in fish markets throughout the region. They can also be enjoyed in restaurants all along the coast.
ARENYS PRAWN
A deep-water crustacean with an intense red color and highly flavorful flesh, much appreciated in gastronomy. Although used in various dishes, the best way to enjoy it is simply grilled with olive oil, salt, garlic, and parsley—a true delight for the palate.

SONSO
A small fish (Gymnammodytes cicerelus), traditionally caught with a specific net called a sonsera. Its fishing is regulated and requires a special license. These fish usually form schools close to the shore.

Sonso is sold at the Arenys de Mar fish auction and in fish markets throughout the region. It is also a popular delicacy in restaurants along the coast.
"COQUETES" D'ARENYS
A flaky pastry covered with caramelized sugar, oval and elongated in shape, offering a crispy texture. It is best enjoyed with Catalan cream, jams, fresh cheese with honey, or even ice cream if served warm.
