11. A visit to the port of Arenys de mar is highly recommended
11.1 La llotja: The fish market where local fishing boats sell their catch at the end of each day.
11.2 Montcalvari hermitage: The hermitage was built in 1584 under a cliff at the foot of the legendary muntanya del Mal Temps (the bad-weather mountain); there are magnificent views over the Mediterranean from the top of the cliff.
11.3 See-food nurseries: Nurseries for lobsters and crabs of excellent quality.



THE RESTAURANTS

Excellent food is to be found at restaurants in the port of Arenys de Mar in which you can enjoy a variety of typical local dishes, served according to the seasons.
. La pesolada; In March and April, many restaurants serve traditional dishes made with a particular kind of pea, the pèsol.
. Calamarenys; In October, all the restaurants in the town include dishes made with squid (calamar) and every restaurant offers a special squid menu.

TRADITIONAL FESTIVALS IN ARENYS DE MAR

1. Summer Solstive Fair: In the week of June 23rd, the Riera (the dry river bed) of Arenys de Mar hosts a fair with stalls selling arts and crafts.
2. St Jonhn's Eve: On June 23rd each year, a fiesta, dance and bonfire is held on Picordia beach.
3. Sant Zenon: July 9th is the Festa Major or annual festival of Arenys de Mar with fireworks, a fair and other celebrations.
4. La Verge del Carme: On July 16th, all the town’s boats take to the sea to celebrate the feast of the Virgin of the Sea.
5. Sant Roc: On August 16th, Arenys de Mar hosts another lively fiesta when traditional events include the young people of the town drenching passers-by with eau de cologne!
